A treat is in the offing for Android fans out there as reports say that Samsung is currently working on bringing the latest version of Google’s Android to its popular models.
According to reports, Android OS v4.1 (Jelly Bean) is expected to be made available as an update for phones including the Samsung Galaxy S3. As of now, Samsung is busy testing the latest version on its phones and working out the finer details for the firmware. The first device to get the update will be Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S3 and the roll out may begin as early as September.
Reporting on the status of the update for Galaxy S3, SamMobile writes:
The test firmwares for the Galaxy S III are passed and they are working on a public version of the first Jelly Bean updates for the Galaxy S III. The wait is on the public version and the agreement of Google.Another phone slated to get Jelly Bean is none other than the hugely successful Samsung Galaxy S2, currently running Android OS v2.3 (Gingerbread).
Regarding test status for Galaxy S2, SamMobile had this to say:
Samsung is still testing Android 4.1 for the Galaxy S II. The first tests are looking fine. Because the Galaxy S II is still selling very well, Samsung will update the Galaxy S II to Android 4.1.Last but not least, the beautiful and powerful Samsung Galaxy Note is also on the list and tests have reportedly been satisfactory. Samsung has neither confirmed nor denied the reports. It is being said that roll-out for all three devices will complete by year-end.
